  2. Brings back memories of farm life in Maine. The word you were looking for is hydrometer. I use one for home brewing and wine making. Cheers Herrick!

  3. Very happy for you! The videos have been very helpful. The sap flowed heavily here in early Feb. until it warmed up for a few days when it abruptly stopped. We were hoping it would begin again when it cooled off but not a drop came.

  4. Making sugar (and syrup) was just what almost all country folks did, when I was a kid. (Late 60s) any country boy, or girl, who needed to raise a few coins for the movies, or other endeavors only had to get over to the nearest sugar shack , and tote a few buckets after school to make some money.

Sugar season rarely lasted a week, though. No more work until hay started coming in.
